Re: Fantasy mod  » posted under Fantasy mod on Sep 19, 2006, 02:16:27 pm
Good:
I love your steeds. A knight in black riding a gray lizard, what could be cooler? Well, perhaps a knight with full plate riding a tiger. But there is a stupid problem. Spirited tiger cost about 20000 gold in the beginning town, and a heavy grey lizard about 7000 gold. Heavy grey lizard is better in every aspect but speed (witch was as good as the tiger's) and riding ability. So two points less of riding skill required to ride are worth 13000? Extra points for the self-made towns.

Bad:
You know, CS talk and fantasy don't get along. The padded leather guy in the tavern talks horribly. It's not like I'm easily offended or anything but it ruins the atmosphere quite well. And what's the point, anyway? The grass texture was too bright, grass is't that green even in a english garden. You better make two separate mods about FFs and other fantasy or stop using FF stuff in this one. At least half the town names were from FFX. And what are you supposed to do with vast desert?

Well, this certainly needs improvement. I won't be playing this regularily, until it is updated. Before that, all my free time is dedicated to Darkmod, The Last Days and Craftmod!

This mod is too unfinished to allow me to say anything about it. I was nevertheless happy to see that even somebody is able to write somewhat good english.

Good:

This is the tied on the best mod title with darkmod. These two are the most finished mods i've seen this far. There are very few typos and other writing troubles with always gives a mod more proish feel (i still laugh at gaurds from men of honor 0.4) and makes the atmosphere much better. I'm really happy with the wargs, they are REALLY well made and they look cool. All of the updates are really good.

Bad:

In this new version, I noted that there are very few brigand parties and, in fact, any parties at all. I think the amount was just fine in the old version. And why are there Troll Cave and the fishing village in this version if they are not yet funktionable? It almost cost the life of my first character, 'cause i depended on resupplying at the fishing village. But these are minor matters. More important thing is that it is annoying that you can't win the war. It would be another good update to make it possible to decide about killing the last enemy faction at the old man. And lastly, city attacks wouldn't hurt.

P.S. I see some people who have perhaps watched the movie too many times. The Holy Book (Lord of the Rings) tells us that orcs aren't cannonfodder. Even you would be a fell warrior if you spent your whole life fighting like them. Comparing to the film, the fellowships troopers (Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir) are about the skill of Knights of the tower guard, meaning they do the mass murdering and you kill them as much as possible. Nevertheless, I like the fact that you must have a party to kill a lot of enemies, for example in darkmod I can kill most parties alone just lancing them.

This is the kind of mod i have been waiting for. Diplomatics, government, creating and ruling an empire...(yes i play civilization games :-):-) ) What this misses is internal politics within the empire, declaring independence of the mother faction, influencing other factions relations to other factions and more ways to gain money for cities. Also, take a hint from 1066-mod. I think it is the best at the moment because the cities in it aren't copied from native. So in city attacks the enemies are really on the walls. A lot more realism.

This is a quite good mod, but there are certain things that don't work. The speeder bikes are funny because they "gallop", but i don't blame you cause' I don't know if it's possible to fix that. Now more serious problem. All the new cities exept the beginning city are same in the inside. It's horrible that you can join New Republic from Imperial Spaceport. And come on, wookie mask? No no no...
