Definitely the best mod ever... and I think I've played them all.

Got a problem, though. Been playing 2.4. for the first time, and after about 130 days (Mordor has fallen), my game locks up and M&B crashes, every time I load my savegame. I've just beaten a lesser host of Dunlanders or something, and *poof* - everything goes to hell.
Does it have something to do with some kind of "you've won!" pop-up screen like the one in earlier versions, maybe? When exactly have you won the war? Is it something else entirely?

Re: Expanded Gameplay II: Rise of the Bear Clan  » posted under Expanded Gameplay III v0.95e on Jan 08, 2008, 04:04:18 pm
Hmmm... it's just like the earlier versions of "Expanded Gameplay" I've tried before (although it looks a lot better), in that it's got the same problems.

* I've seen other people complain about the unit speed, and I have to say it again for emphasis: They're just too fast. People don't sprint around like the Road Runner when in battle - it just doesn't look... human.
If you think it looks OK now, well, what can I say? You should probably study humans in motion.

* Logic has been thrown out the window in a couple of instances. I can wield a broad sword, but I need 12 strength to pick up a stick and use it? And the stick is more dangerous?
Hmmm...

Besides those two (large) points, there's a LOT of great stuff in here too. I haven't seen such a massive amount of cool items in a long time (if ever), and I just wish I had the patience to play this mod long enough to get some of it. Sadly - the game speed thing just reduces the feel of weight and movement that's so cool about M&B, so I won't play this one too much yet.

Still... it's got MASSIVE potential, and I sincerely hope you'll keep tweaking it.

Oh, btw: Where (if at all) can one get one of those Death Wards?

Um, yeah... I commented on the previous version, but I have to comment again.
First: Love the new helmet.
But what the hell? I can't buy food for my troops? I can't even slaughter the horses I loot after a battle to make some rations. This means that I'm now supposed to enter the great battle of Thermopylae (third wave) with 296 starving Spartans? Whose morale is now "average"? Also, as an added insult, rest is impossible, so my injured soldiers can't heal (even if they COULD, they would starve).
Persians still look anything but Persian, and I'm still fighting in flat terrain.
Please, please make this mod work - it could be so fun and entertaining if you fixed just a few things.

Maybe it's just me, but... is this INCREDIBLY hard?
When I start out playing, I find that if I stumble into a battle, it's me and my (useless) sister against 7+ enemies, and unless a miracle occurs, they will win and rob you blind! OK that they steal stuff from your inventory and some cash, but the shirt off my back and my weapons? This means that unless you win your first battle, you will have less gear than you had when you lost your first one and NO cash to buy new equipment, since you start the game with almost nothing! And what happens when you manage to solo those 7+ enemies in that second encounter, as I did? Looting my enemies as they did me? No. "You got 49 denars". Sadly, it seems to be the only way I can make money in this mod...
I've played 20+ mods so far (maybe 30?), and this is by far the most frustrating one. Not only because I reek at it - but because the concept shows so much potential if done right. But as the mod is now - it's hardly playable. Letting the player keep equipped goods and give better rewards for defeating bad guys would go a long way. Maybe let the player start off with better equipment?

Shows great potential... but it's impossible to ride a horse to battle on land, even though I've bought one and put it in its proper slot. I have to buy one for one of my NPCs and tell him to dismount every time, so I can "borrow" his horse. Terribly annoying after a while.
Also, I can't say I understand the absence of proper shields in this mod.
To finish off with praise: Great mod idea. Love the objects, the textures and about a million other things.
Hope to see it even more developed, with a better system for joining battles at sea and such. Even as it is now - one of the finest mods out there.

Good one - I'm giving you high marks for making something new and exciting.
Highly challenging, too - and never boring. Took me seven or eight characters to get to the keep and win.
Just a few things I'd like to know/see changed:
* Battle scenes in more than one location? Either that, or simply make enemies spawn in different parts of the castle each time? I found that I could take the same route to bump into my foes at the same place each and every time, and it became a little repetitive.
* What happens after taking the Keep? Nothing? If nothing - will it ever? I was kinda looking forward to escape from captivity...
* Where did the targeting reticule go? OK, I'm sure it was a conscious choice to remove it... but then you should extend the same courtesy to my enemies. They could shoot VERY accurately, so I had to keep pelting them with rocks all the time... just because they're faster and I have more of them.

Quite fun and challenging. I ended up with only 40 Persians left when all my troops were gone :-(
Suggestions:
*Please make the final battle set in rocky terrain. The whole point with the Spartans' battle (film and real life) were that they fought in tight formation in a narrow spot, reducing the opponents' advantage by larger numbers. Here, I had to fight heavy cavalry on plains.
*I'd like to see a couple of things from the movie; those grim Immortal masks and, perhaps, a rhino or two (I think Storymod has a rhino - maybe you can borrow it?).
*Those badass helmets? With the brushes on them?
*And, finally - I'd like the Persians to look more... well, Persian. Just to make the illusion more complete - the Greeks already look Greek.

Looking forvard to the next version!

This mod DESPERATELY needs to get its terrain repaired. As it is now, it's difficult to play without becoming incredibly frustrated, as it is impossible to know where you can or cannot move. This will, inevitably, lead to stumbling into forces you desperately want to avoid - again and again and again until you just don't want to play anymore.
Oh, and the shield wall units are IMPOSSIBLE to defeat unless you own a gun. Even if you send arrows into their bald heads, damage is still 0.
Shows potential, though.
