The mesh in this scene will deform properly as the skeleton is manipulated. This scene is referred to in my animation tutorial.

In fact, this skeleton may not deform correctly after all. The deformation problem is caused by the ValveSource SMD importer, not by anything to do with the Warband rig itself.

Anyone trying to get a working rig should learn how to attach vertices to bones and fix the imported rig manually in XSI Mod Tool. Please note, the look of the mesh in XSI Mod Tool does not affect your animation - you only export information from the bones, so incorrectly rigged vertices do not make it impossible to produce good animations. That said, they may make things more difficult, since it will be harder to see what the true shape of the in-game mesh will be.
