Description
After my first play-through, I made this Excel sheet to help me pick backgrounds and build my character.

You can see how your starting attribute and skill setup will look with different choices for your background.

You can also see how your character can be built at any level, just type in the level you want and you'll see how many picks you have for your attributes and skills. You'll see you'll get more skill picks if you put points into Intelligence. (I read somewhere that 63 is the highest attainable level, but I'd recommend having a semi-finished build at level 30.)

I will also upload a sample sheet that is filled out, to help people learn to use this.

How to use:

Start with choosing your gender, by marking 'x' in the right cell. Then highlight the background you want to choose (from the title (Noble, Merchant, Warrior...) down to the last weapon proficiency stat). Then copy into the "Your choice" column. You'll see what stats that background choice plus your base stats gives you. Then, as you progress, you'll see the sum of each of your background choices.
When you have made all your background choices, you'll see your starting build. Then you can add the picks you get at start: 4 attribute picks and skill picks equal to your Intelligence score. If an exclamation mark ("!") appears in the cell to the right of where you type in your pick, that means you have exceeded one third of that skill's governing attribute score. No skill can exceed one third of its governing attribute (if your Strength score is 9 then your Ironflesh score can be no higher than 3) unless you get all those skill points from your background choices, or the final skill point from a book.
Having made the initial picks, you'll see what you'll look like at level 1. Now you can check what you'll look like at any given level. Simply type in the level you want to see yourself at in the appropriate cell and you'll see how many attribute and skill picks you have at that level. The skill picks will increase if you put points into your Intelligence.
Finally you can factor in the books. Simply mark 'x' in the appropriate cell for each book, and you'll see a skill or attribute raise. Remember that no skill can exceed 10, except Trainer, Surgery and Wound Treatment. I believe those can go to 11, by having the right books in your inventory. You can exceed 1/3rd of a skill's governing attribute by one point with a book. Thus, to get to Leadership 10 you only need a Charisma score of 27, raise the skill up to 9 and then read the book that gives you +1 Leadership.

There will be no updates coming from me. Be aware that the stats can change with each new updated version of the game, so this sheet might become outdated.
