Description
The Gathering Storm
A Wheel of Time Mod
V0.2.0 Beta Release

“The Wheel of Time turns...”
The Gathering Storm is a mod based on Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. It strives to capture the essence of the epic fantasy tale, while also retaining the open-ended feel of Mount and Blade.

This is a Beta version, meaning there are still hundreds of areas that can be improved upon. Please try it out and share any feedback.

Feature List:
Wheel of Time Map
The One Power- currently 14 weaves.
Eight Factions: Legion of the Dragon, Southlander Coalition, Southlander Alliance, Borderlands, White Tower, Aiel Nation, Seanchan Empire, and Shadowspawn.
An extensive troop tree including almost all political regions that appear in the series.
120 days of forced diplomacy that follows the general events in the series. After 120 days, diplomacy reverts to generic Mount and Blade.
Aes Sedai will spawn warders. Sul'dam spawn Damane. Asha'man spawn captured Aes Sedai.
Several kits from the forum community. (troop ratio bar, and Auto-loot)
Press 'H' when in the world map view for a help screen.
Two new custom battle stages based on the Wheel of Time world.

Channeling System Basics:
All weaves take stamina to channel. A HUD bar will show how much stamina is remaining. Stamina regenerates based on Strength, and has a maximum amount based on Intelligence. You can switch between weaves by pressing “Caps-Lock”. There are also several weave-toggle options that are explained in the help menu. When your channeling item is equipped, press “Num-Pad” keys 5 through 9 to change your toggle mode, from all weaves, to advanced weaves, to short range weaves, to long range weaves, to advanced weaves. If this sounds confusing try a Custom/Quick Battle using Rand or Nynaeve as your character.

Notes:
Just a warning... Battles with a lot of channelers can sometimes cause high CPU burden. If that is the case, try reducing the max troop limit. Or kill the enemy channelers off quickly.

I created this mod using the v1.126 Module System. However, I think it should still work with v1.132. There may be some errors that I don't know about though.

This mod will play similarly to Feral's mod “Shadow Rising”. However, I did not use any of his models or files per his request.

To Install:
Unzip the folder to your desktop. If you just want to play, then copy the “Gathering Storm” folder into your Mount and Blade-Warband 'Modules' folder.

If you want to look at the source, then feel free to do so. Please ask me for permission if you want to use any of my code. Thanks.

Future Plans:Update companions.
Add recruiter mod if I can get permission.
More scenes.
Make LODs of some of the modes that only have a high-poly model.
Others things that I think of.

Your game freezes are caused by the 'push back' feature on the Air Weave. It also might happen with Defensive Blast and Ranged Earth Blast. I removed the sliding feature from the computer channeler's weapons, and also removed the effect from the player's weapon for every type of battle except the open field battles. I think it totally depends on the capability of your computer as to whether or not that weave will cause crashing. I might look into making a 'light' One Power weapon that can be used by people who aren't using the most advanced computers. I used to crash out in battles with a lot of channelers when I still allowed the computer magic items to make people slide. If you are having problems when just you are causing the sliding effect, then I'll try to make a 'lighter' (less cpu intensive) One Power weapon. For now, you might just have to not use those weaves. Especially if they cause problems almost every time you use them. Do you also have 'stutters' when you shoot a fireball or another ranged weave into the air or at a target that is really far away? If so, then I definitely think that some of the problem is that you are stressing your cpu.

Again, those are good ideas for new weaves, assuming I can figure out how to implement them. I could make Air Blast do more damage. I'll maybe tweak it a little, but it needs to be pretty weak since it's the first weave that the player learns.

I don't have any ideas about the blocking thing. The only thing I can think of is if you are on fire and don't realize it. I think that might make your character stagger when it delivers the damage every second. I'm not totally sure about that though. I know the computer agents will stagger when they are on fire.

I don't think rocks should be doing that much damage. I didn't make any changes to the damage that rocks do. My only guess is that some of the magic code is stressing your computer so the game engine might be making some errors. For example, the bandits you saw shooting fire. I can't reproduce that error. Maybe let me know what your computer setup is. I know that my mod has higher system requirements than the base game. And I don't know all the errors that could take place as you push the limits of your system more and more. But if the game is crashing, then there's a good chance that it is acting up in other ways too.

Well, Im not sure exactly what you want for info on my computer. For that freezing though it doesnt just happen when I use the Air weave. I can run up with my horse and strike with my sword and it would do the same thing. Idk, and no none of the long range weaves have ever flickered. Umm, by the way, the two mentioned weaves you were talking about, the Defensive blast and Earth one...what is the symbol for it ingame? Idk which weaves those are, and I used an edited char to get the feel for the weaves. Also, I was just giving a suggestion for weaves if you havent already thought of those for it. Trying to be helpful so you can put the best mod out there for people to use :green:

Now, as for my computer: 2 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
(I swear it was 4200 when we got the computer) Anyways, the next thing.
1280x960, 64MB GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 (Dell)(Graphics card...It sucks)
465GB for memory total, and 238GB free.
For ram, 2.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 200MHz 5-5-5-15
My CPU is now running between 45 and 46 Degrees Celcius. (Which Im guessing is hot though Im unfamiliar with Celcius) And Im barely running stuff now. Idk, maybe its been stressed to much recently.
Im also running on MS Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit SP2 Operating system. Idk if that effects anything, but yeah.

That I think should sum it up. By the way I have always fought bandits, trollocs, or foots soldiers, never channelers. So I know I was not on fire. I was wondering if it was because I had the speed of fighting at max for the speed of attacks, and it was glitching to make it faster than it should be? Idk. Also, I will have version 1.132 of Warband for a while, so I hope any updates wont be ported to 1.134....Anyways, those are the "stats" so to speak for my comp. I know it sucks, considering this is my parents computer, but mainly I use it. They wont let anyone upgrade anything either. I tried having a friend look for better graphics, processor, etc etc. But they heard and got angry saying it would ruin the computer. So, I have very limited options...

I don't think you should have problems because of your system. (except maybe the graphics card) 45 to 46 isn't anything to worry about for temps. I'm wondering if you are seeing this issue. http://bugs.taleworlds.com/edit_bug.aspx?id=1958

It says that battles with horses sometimes cause problems. (still there in 1.132)

Those weaves are the second dust cloud and then the one right after it.

I'll have to test faster attack speed. I haven't used that yet.
And 1.134 should work with the mod. So far, no one is reporting errors at least.

Umm, that link sent me to this wierd white page that just gave me a list of things I needed to know before posting a bug report...it showed me no bug or anything that I might of had...Umm, or did I do something wrong?

Also, I meant with the Warband version is that Ill have 1.132 as the one I use for a while, so I hope when you creat a patch, or another version of this mod it isnt for 1.134 as I will not have it, but I would hope that it would still work with 1.132.

Oh, I also forgot to say something about the air weave that you mentioned. With the damage, Im not saying to OP it but to just add a bit more damage. I did a test, and it takes from 6 to 10 casting of air weave to kill one bandit. Just a bandit, and from what I noticed is that even if you use the weave, it wont up channeling unless you kill someone with it. I went a match, killed just a few, and it leveled my channeling. I did another match and only used it on a group 3 times to push them back, and then sworded them. I left battle and nothing was gained. I did the same thing for the next two to three battles not killing anyone with the weave, but just pushing them around and then killing them with the sword, and nothing. So being able to kill them quicker is nicer, and leads to less of a chance of the freezing happening and them being pushed behind me like the cheating bandits like to do XD So, even though it is a beginning weave, it would take forever to learn the other weaves, and I know how some people can be who are impatient to get the next weave. Etc etc. Anyways, thanks for the help with this. It is probably a bit tiring right now isnt it?

Oh... I guess you have to have an account in order to report or view the bug-list. Sorry about that. It wasn't that exciting anyway.

So far, the mod you are playing uses the v1.126 module system. And it works for 1.126, 1.132, 1.134 as far as I know. I don't plan on trying to port the mod to another version of the module system python files unless I am forced to. Because I've added thousands of lines of code to many of the indivual files and I don't even want to know how many I've added over all. The thought of porting it scares me.

Yeah, as of now, you only get 'channeling proficiency' when you actually do something useful with the power. Maybe I should change it so you get a little bit of 'xp' no matter what. Sort of like the Ashaman soldiers and the Aes Sedai novices fumbling around for a while trying to learn new weaves.

Your suggestions are good. Thanks for taking the time.

My pleasure. I do like the books, and to see it in a mod for a good game is awesome. Especially if the mod can make the world what it is in the book. I would love for them to make a pure video game like it, but they havent T_T or at least a movie for it, as it does kinda warrant one and fans have been wanting one, but its all up to the the wife now, and if she asks for any suggestions on what to do from the finishing author, Brandon Sanderson...I think thats the right name. Anyways, I dont mind helping with suggestions or anything, as long you want them. May I ask when a more recent patch is coming out or do you yourself not know yet?

Hey, me again :P Anyways, I just fought some bandits on foot because you said that link had something about battling on horse that might be my problem, and the same thing happened. It froze. I still heard the music, but it was frozen. Anyways might it have something to do with the settings I have for M&B? I have it to load textures on demand so I was wondering if that was it, or if the forces vert sync was it...Idk, Ima try to see what happens when I take that off.

Yeah, I think you might have to check you game-play or graphics settings for that. I don't think that I'm having that problem. I don't have the force V-sync box checked, but it could be a whole lot of other things. I'm not sure about the 'on demand textures' thing.

As far as next patch... Well, I have the multiplayer stuff almost done, but I haven't really done that much to the single player stuff since the last patch. I might try to work on it some more over the holidays and how it looks in a week or so.

Cool. Anyways, I took them off, and I was on foot. Yet it still froze. Idk. Something isnt working right.

And it would be very cool to see a nice patch and all that. XD Anyways, happy holidays, and looking forward to more good work :D
