Introduction

The Era of Warring States is upon Caldaria. 13 Factions fight for the unification and bring peace to the people. Who will be victorious?

Based on the Diplomacy mod by Wahiti, the Warring States brings more action and intrigue beyond the native play. Will you be King or a Kingmaker? The choice is yours.

Changelog: 15 Oct 2010 a
+ Updated Diplomacy Mod
+ Motomataru's Battle Formation Kit added
+ Fixed Captain Boomer's End Quest

Any time in-game that you have a formation form or "Hold," it will set up near the position that the player had when the command was issued: infantry to the left, cavalry to the right, and archers up front. Additionally, the formations may maintain the same FACING that the player had (depending on mod design).

Whenever a unit first forms a particular formation, troops may spread out for ease of forming up (depending on mod design).

Player troops start every battle in formation.

Unless changed by mod design, formation key bindings are:
"J" for ranks
"K" for weapon-based ranks (shieldwall, phalanx)
"L" for wedge (the player ought to reassign the "L" for "Log" mapping)
";" for square
"U" for no formation (undo formation)

Archers have no formation other than their starting line. They are put in formation for practicality's sake. Once unformed, they cannot be reformed (since the player can just use F1 to "reform" them).

Cavalry will not make any formation other than the wedge.

Charge (and Dismount for cavalry) will undo a formation. The player may Advance multiple times to have a formation move toward the average position of the enemy. Or use the order panel or hold-F1 to place them (or sweep them across the enemy for the cavalry wedge).

Changelog: 14 Oct 2010

Fixed Arrion Ladies and Suitors
Fixed New faction walkers
Fixed Town Specialization
Fixed Arena Melee Scenes
Fixed Arrion Ranger + Arrion Knight (Both are mounted Crossbowmen)

Not trying to sound mean or something, but what about the start menu's?
Don't know if I'm the only one, but I get a lot of errors and just the background pic and menu block but that's it...

Thanks in advance ;) and the idea is great

Got 1.1 so it should work...
But as I said: I can't even start a new game.... I don't get the menu (as in the game loads as it does, then I get the background (the nord looking guys, one of em with a big beard and axe) and on the left the box where you ussually choose new game, options etc etc.. But that I don't get those choices/buttons what ever you call them... It's just the pic and the box..

@Ralen you have 1.1 version of the game? Why don't you upgrade it to the latest 1.113? Perhaps thats why you have problems with loading this module.

Thanks for the offer. I am new to modding as well. This is my first time coding in Python with the Module System, too. Caldaria - Warring States is sort of my training ground before I work on my new world project.

Downloading as we speak. I really try to spice up Warband a bit with any interesting modes i find around. For example i am thinking of getting this mode and add Pike&Blade on it. I think it should work. (Maybe i would have to add the new faction units in the end but i will work on it). What i really miss is the great variety of items from mods like PoP or such. I would greatly suggest it as an addition to further versions. I think it will attract a lot of players.

As for the moding... I am a junior developer, still in uni, and i would love to get some experience in such things. My schedule is really heavy with all the projects and labs (plus football training and matches xD), but if you think you would need any extra hands don't hesitate to add me in the team! If you want to discuss any further on that feel free to message me ^^

Thanks and keep up the good work ;)

Sure TigerGRC.. I welcome any help I can get.

I am now done with editing the troop, and party_templates files. Everything seems good and without any trouble, units seem to be as planed and such. Now fully fixed!!! Messages work properly and i haven't spoted any other problems so far!

In any case i can show you the mod and if you like it you could add it in the new version.
If you want to discuss any further this is my msn account:

this may be critical but you will need something a little more interesting like new quests or different
mechanics and features or junk like that :-| other than that great job ;-)

I would like to take you up on that offer. I was thinking about putting together a team of modders myself. I'm not sure how to PM you though :-?
I'm not very experienced either, but I also have a lot of time on my hands and have always had modding in mind. Pm me if you want to team up.

What I think would be a great addition is giving the option to permanently kill the lods if you capture them. I tried to find how to do it myself but I can't seem to find a way to edit a mod in order to do that. Still I think it spices up the whole thing a bit since you can get rid of the annoying people who keep attacking you and sack the power of your oponents military that way.

I also want to say that this is a great mod and I was playing it from the moment it got out, trying to mod a bit myself, but my crazy scedule and lack of knowledge on the M&B moding didn't let me to do great things. All I was doing was edditing some items and improving the faces of characters like trying to make the ladies a bit more charming. :P Although I had trouble removing those silly hats they have to wear xP

Anyway... Keep up the good work! I hope to see upgreats soon ^^

The thing is I don't really know how to use source files really.... So all I've done so far is changing things and adding modes using moding tools with UI. :S

Minor detail: it's actually spelled "Calradia" rather that "Caldaria" unless you intended to change it for some reason.
