Description
NOTE: THIS TOOL ONLY AFFECTS THE BATTLE SIZE IN THE SINGLE PLAYER GAME, NOT MULTIPLAYER.

With this tool you can get around the game's battle size limit of 150 and instead choose up to 1000. Note that overly large battle sizes can very easily crash Warband if your computer isn't able to handle them, or at the least cause horrible slowdowns. Don't even expect to be able to have battles of size 1000 even if you have the latest and greatest hardware; that upper limit is that high to give plenty of leeway. If you experience crashes, you should lower the battle size.

This tool is packaged in an installer and will optionally create a desktop shortcut.

How to use this tool:
1. Make sure to have run Warband at least once so the configuration data files are created.
2. Make sure Warband is not running when you use this tool.
3. Run this tool, choose your desired battle size, then save and exit.
4. When you next run Warband, the desired battle size will be set (which can be confirmed on the options screen).

Changelist:
v1.5
  • update to support Warband 1.112+, since the configuration file location was changed
v1.4.1
  • properly fixed support for regions which use "," as a decimal separator; oops, previous such fix didn't quite cut it
v1.4
  • fixed support for regions which use "," as a decimal separator
  • working detection of Steam Warband installation directory
v1.3
  • initial release

Gah I got virused. Too bad, this would have been a neat little tool if the uploader wasn't a douchebag :P

EDIT: Well gee, sorrrryy. If you wan't me to write a serious comment I will. Here goes: "Dear uploader. It seems your modification has presented me with a virus. I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but if you could take a look and verify that would be good. Thank you."

Beg pardon? Are you indicating this file has a virus? Nope:
Virustotal Report
Looks like Symantec is showing a false positive on it, though.

Go be a dumbass somewhere else, thanks.

If you have something even remotely useful to say, such as "I ran antivirus program X and it indicates it is a trojan.Z", feel free. Otherwise, just like the other guy, go be a rude, ungrateful, ignorant dipshit somewhere else than on my site.

EDIT: though on a re-running of it on Virustotal, now AVG has joined Symantec in giving a false positive. Of course, if you use AVG, you should be quite used to getting false positives by now, since it seems to love giving them.

You should probably get a different decent free antivirus instead which doesn't always give false positives. I use Avast myself, though lately I've heard very good things about Avira.

Well to verify the validity of the uploader's file. This program is free of any malware, spyware, or any other malicious intentions.

I have IO-BIT 360 with advanced system care professional. along with clam-win and super anti-spyware and all have verified this is a legitimate program/file. all passed completely.

just because those use McAfee or Norton which both are hogs and eat up any processor/ram you have. they do tend to give more false positives than my last STD test (joke) I vouch for it

Just downloaded and installed without problems - using AVG free edition. No warnings at all.

i downloaded and installed, using avg free it had 2 trojans and some spyware.

EDIT (Janus):
Did I not say to stow it unless you have something useful to say? "2 trojans and some spyware" is obviously bullshit. One more comment like that and I'll simply block you from posting comments and voting throughout the site.

Yeah, it looks like AVG actually did fix that false positive pretty quickly for once, as well as Symantec. On the other hand, A couple of others ("a-squared" and "Ikarus") are now flagging it.

It happens when you save and quit with this utility, or when you save and quit Warband itself? You're not touching the battle size slider within Warband itself, right? That will change the battle size back to one within the usual bounds of the game.
Also, there are no error messages given, right?

Hmm... are you running Warband and the Battle Size Changer at the same time, or just the Battle Size Changer without Warband running in the background?

OK then. If you can bring yourself to fight through the bullshit for just a bit more, could you tell me what version of Windows you are on, what version of Warband (and if it's the Steam release, though I doubt that makes a difference), or any other details you think might help figure it what the problem is? Anything that might help narrow it down, since it works fine for me and at least some others.

I have to say though, I do sometimes wonder why I bother. :-?

OK, I just tested in a Vista 64-bit VM (close enough) with copies of the Warband appdata files and it worked fine. I also tried setting the configuration file to read-only in case that was somehow happening, but the Battle Size Changer correctly popped up an error indicating it was locked. Renaming the file likewise resulted in an error.
Hmm, quite strange. The utility seems to be reading successfully from the file in your case, and as far as it sees it is successfully writing the new battle size back out to the config file since it doesn't give you an error message.

A couple of things I'd like you to check then, starting with a quick question. When you run Warband and lower the battle size to an arbitrary value in the middle (96, 37, whatever), then exit Warband and run the Battle Size Changer, is it reporting the same battle size as you just set?

OK, so the Battle Size Changer is consistently showing the last saved battle size right up until you run Warband, which sets it back to 150?
Try setting the battle size to something lower using the Battle Size Changer (again something like 96, 37, whatever) and check again to see if it's changed back to 150 or whatever by Warband itself. That will determine if Warband is somehow rejecting any battle size changes or just those which are out of its normal range.

Also, again, what version of Warband are you running? It should show on the startup screen in the upper right. I've been testing on 1.104 and one version before that... I think it was 1.102.

EDIT: additionally I've tested it in 1.105 now, and it's working for me there too.
