It's a year after the Civil War in the Western part of the United States. In the North, there are Apaches and Comanches. From the South, Mexican bandits raid American villages. Join the US Army and become an honest man or lend your hand to a bandit chief for a fistful of dollars.

1866 aims to bring the atmosphere of the most famous Western movies to Mount and Blade. More than 65 brand-new detailed and realistic firearms await you. Whether you use them for good or bad is up to you.

Feature list:
Please check our Taleworlds release thread for it.

Umm.... try re-installing M&B (again) in another folder. If you're using windows 7 or vista, don't install in "Program Files", just to be sure. If that doesn't help... sorry :-?
Oh, also, are you using any add-ons?

I don't believe that the Mount & Blade engine is the best for firearms. The game was made for large medieval open field battles. There are not a lot of trees, barrels, and rocks to take cover behind. Granted, during the Civil War men still lined up in a field and shot at each other, but when you think of the 'ol west, you think of saloon and ranch shootouts using whatever you could for cover.

That aside, this mod is amazing! I LOVE the uniforms. You have done an exceptional job on the uniforms and changing the look and feel. The firearms are realistic in function and look. The reload sequences are very realistic. Excellent job all around.

I did have one crash, when I was raiding an apache village. Mount & Blade crashed completely and dumped me right out of the game. Other than that it worked very well. I have played a lot of the mods and many just don't "feel" right. You have nailed this, and I really look forward to future versions.

This mod is awesome!  » posted by dietz on Dec 27, 2009, 01:17:47 pm
Guys, great mod! The more I play it, the more I am impressed at the time and attention to detail that you placed into this game. There is something just cool about walking around an old west town, being jumped by bandits, then blowing them away with your double barell shotgun! Riding into a town past a train is pretty impressive too!

I changed my graphics settings, but it still crashes when I fight Apache's in a village. I have had some pretty big fights in other villages, no problem. Also I got some invalid agent error when hunting Buffalo's (Very cool by the way).

As for recommendations, is there a way to allow the fight to continue if your character dies instead of ending the fight right there? Can the Nude paintings be removed and the swearing cleaned up a bit? My kids play :)
Also, when you win, the winning cheers are a little odd.

Amazing mod guys, keep up the great work!

I would like to suggest that you develop an artillery unit for the USA and possibly Mexican factions for regular battles. Historically artillery gave the US a huge advantage over Indians, and every time I play this mod the Indians consistently destroy the USA and Mexico.

I love this mod, keep up the good work!
