Description
One of the major mods available for Mount and Blade, creating a total conversion based on the Ranger's Apprentice Series authored John Flanagan. The mod is based on the people and places rather than the storyline, hence it doesn't follow story-specific events. Includes a map make-over, many new troops and cool features. There is full implementation of the Form Ranks kit, More Metal Sound Mod, Camp Entrenchment, and Sea Battles. You're missing out if you don't give it a go!

It's one of the known bugs on the main thread

It likely was a problem related to the recent site+database conversion messing up the stored filename. I've gone ahead and fixed your listing, so the filename is now correct.

Ummm I can't figure out how to get it to work, once I install it it just shows me this big file with a ton of text documents, no programs with the actual game. Please tell me how to get it to work (I'm new at this sorry)

Ok, what you'll need to do is copy the file (which is not that big ;-) ) to the Modules folder in your M&B folder which should be found in Program Files. So:
Quote:
My Computer > Local Disk > Program Files > M&B > Modules > [Paste the file containing all the text documents here]
That is how most modules are installed, unless they come with an auto-installer. Enjoy the mod!

Excuse me Mr.Creator Guy... Why is it that every time you kill 1 soldier you get like 2 level ups? It wrecks havoc on the players that don't have a serial code (Seriusly, $30 to play a game?). If you could maybe devolop a script to nullify the Level limit that would be appreciated. Untill then, have fun!

Hello there!

We will be working on fixing some of the bandits who provide way to much XP. However, due to the nature of this module (being based on the Ranger's Apprentice Series), the majority of troops do reach rather high levels and that I'm afraid can't be corrected as of this moment.

Also, the development of the script to nullify the level limit is firstly not possible and secondly strictly prohibited. $30.00 isn't so much for a game such as Mount and Blade and I have seen higher. Perhaps you could bide your time until the release of Warband (Mount and Blade Expansion), which may be worth the price in your eyes?

Kind Regards

Perhaps you could try checking if it looks the same as the Native folder. So open Native in the modules and check all the text files and folders. Then check Ranger's Apprentice. Should be the same. That's all I can think of at the moment. You could try posting on our sub-forum and perhaps you may get more answers there.

Amazing module for something so lightweight. :-) You really did an excellent job with this. The only glitch I've encountered was not being able to move. I had to restart the application. :-(

But anyways, excellent mod.

Hello there,

I'm not sure what's wrong here; it hasn't happened to anyone else. Perhaps describing it a little more might help us give you a solution. Also, posting in our subforum would attract a little more attention.

Yes, it may not work with Chrome but so wouldn't any other mod. The average times are listed just at the bottom of the main information on this page; it depends on how fast your internet speed is. It shouldn't be faster than 22 seconds though.

Sorry for the slow reply; it's just probably because you have a fast download speed: 3mb/s would get you that.

i finally got it downloaded :-D . so now i figured out the best army. every freakin archer/ranger you can get in araluen, like as many as you can. then at the beginning tell any body that is mounted to get off tell them to hold position then tell them to spread out.(this works especially well against footmen and the spacing prevents archers from tearing into your ranks.) this also works very well for besieging. i had my army of archers outside who killed everyboy there, then i ran upther to get more up there and started all ove ronce they were dead B-) . and just to make sure, you are supposed to get like 3000 xp when you kill someone right, i think he was a kaijin. the tumaji faction is not as good as i thought they would be. i thought each army would have like 1000 in each and cities with like 5000 and every faction would be against them. and does the battle size increaser mod work with this?

there is a higher chance than in Native, but it doesn't mean you'll get every castle conquered. Still, you should get more castles than that, but I'm not sure why.

I know I made less bandits; not sure about the xp though

yes the battle size mod works. the Temujai faction is stil stronger than all other factions and there is a trigger that sets them at war with everyone, I'm still trying to figure out how it fires: it does it sometimes and not others. Nice strategy by the way, now try it against your own people ;-)

Many apologies, we don't check these comments very often. I see however, you've taken the initiative of using the forum. I hope one of our members will be able to help you there; personally, I can't see what's wrong :-? It looks like your own copy of M&B has a problem, because we don't change the costumes_a.brf file at all in this mod.

Hi, you need to unzip that file into your Modules folder. It'll sit there alongside the "Native" folder and when you load M&B select it from the drop-down menu. Enjoy!

yeah. downloaded to a different folder, (my computer wouldnt let me save it to modules. admin permission needed). Whatever that means.
anyway, its in a seperate folder. Instead of it being a whole package like most mods, its jut the file with the 7-zip logo.

^
Is everything as it should be or did I miss a step?

then, I copy it to the actual modules folder. I have to tell it to 'run as adminstrator' (wont run otherwise). Everything extracts and now there's a folder called ranger apprentice v2.0 or whatever.
^
so far so good? if not, tell me.

......alright, well it working fine now. whatever I did. So I guess I answered my own question. I think I had to run it as admin. before I was trying that rename as zip and all the other stuff a few of the other guys were talking about. Ah, I'll figure it later. Now, to play.

Judging by the weapons, map, stats, etc...this mod makes native and europe mods utter shit!

When I first heard ranger being talked about, I was like, "Really? a mod based on M. Knight Shyalaman's The Village?" although that would be a neat mod, it'd be kinda hard since it'd be a few villages surrounded by the monsters. (I never actually saw the movie, so I dont know what I'm talking about).

But I digress, very nice mod, possibly my new fave. Job very well done.

ALso, I've been thinking of a super-hero mod. Your character is a super hero, and you pick from a list of powers, i.e. flight, x-ray vision, invisibility, teleport, etc. and the armor would be the super hero costumes, weapons would be tied-in to abilities (x-ray goggles increase spotting by 3 levels, arrows and/or guns are increased by 25 damage via flight ability, etc.) The towns would be like New York, Gotham, Budapest (from Van Helsing). VH not really super hero, but I consider him one.

anyway, I would do it myself, make the mod. Trouble downloading ranger apprentice, I'd make my computer crash trying to make a mod. LOL
